The parade ground of the Alcazar of Toledo occupies the central part of the building that is shared by the Army Museum and the Library of Castilla-La Mancha. Important architects such as Alonso de Covarrubias or Francisco de Villalpando participated in its original 16th century construction. During the Spanish Civil War the building was almost completely destroyed and the restoration tried to recover its primitive Renaissance style.

In the center of the ground stands out the sculpture known as "The Emperor Carlos V and the Fury", also called "Carlos V dominating the Protestant Fury", a copy of another figure made by Leone Leoni in bronze commissioned by the Emperor, who did not came to see it finished. The original sculpture can currently be seen in the Prado Museum. Another replica is exhibited in the Royal Palace of Madrid.
